The Grand Prix of Long Beach debuted in 1975 with a Formula 5000 race but for the last 37 years, Long Beach has hosted IndyCar.  The circuit layout has gone thru many iterations as the city of Long Beach has evolved over the years.  North America's longest running street race is the second most popular race only trailing the Indianapolis 500.

Al Unser Jr. is nicknamed 'King of the Beach' for winning the race a record six times (1988, '89, '90, '91, '94, '95).  Young American Kyle Kirkwood won the 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach for his first career IndyCar victory.
