It's easy to forget that the Los Angeles Kings were part of the original NHL expansion in 1967 when the league expanded from the Original Six to twelve teams. 45 years is a long time to wait for your first Stanley Cup. After winning two Cups in three years, the 2012 and 2014 Kings became franchise legends for the rest of their lives.
Captain Dustin Brown had his #23 jersey retired along with a statue built outside of Staples Center in February 2023. Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and Jonathan Quick will soon join him.
